Below are a few things to better prepare you for your procedure:

  • Exfoliate a week before to get rid of any dead skin cells on your body

  • Shave/wax areas, no laser treatments!

  • No tanning

  • No alcohol or blood thinners 3 days prior to appointment

  • Wear loose clothes the day of your appointment

  • Do not apply lotions or oils to the area being treated

  • No antibiotics 20 days prior to treatment or 40 days after

  • Weight lifting or strenuous exercise should be avoided at least 2 days prior. Swelling can cause your skin to stretch slightly which could result in your tattoo being distorted when your skin returns to normal.

  • Do not undergo a magnetic resonance test within 50 days of your tattoo session and always keep the operator informed of your tattoo.

After-care is very important for producing a beautiful and lasting result

  • Cold compress the areas as needed to reduce swelling.

  • Apply Aquaphor ointment on treated areas 2x daily for 14 days.

  • No working out or excessive sweating for a week (7 days)

  • After 14 days, if you laser, you need to be sure the laser professional knows your ink has Titanium Dioxide in it, as the laser treatment can affect the pigment.

  • Do not sunbathe or have direct sun exposure on areas for 40 days

  • 1st 40 days, stretchmark/scars will be dark, please don’t panic.

  • Do not scrub, rub, or pick at the epithelial crust that forms. Allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed before it is ready, you compromise the pigment retention.

What to Expect

  • Swelling, itching, scabbing, light bruising, and dry tightness one week after the procedure.

  • Very dark and slightly uneven appearance.

  • Color change or color loss. As the stretch mark area heals, the ink may turn red, then pink, then brown or purple. This is normal

  • The procedure area has to be completely healed before we can address any concerns. This takes at least two months (or 45-60 days), but could possibly take longer depending on your skin.

  • Failure to follow aftercare instructions may result in infections, pigment loss, or discoloration.
